Border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka: Ministers in charge will meet in Belgaum on December 3

MUMBAI: On December 3, Madhyavarti Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti activists will meet with Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Patil and Shambhuraj Desai in Belgaum to discuss the long-running border conflict with Karnataka.

Patil and Desai have been chosen to serve as the coordinating ministers for the border dispute, and one of their responsibilities is to work with the legal team to coordinate the court case pertaining to the boundary dispute between the two states.
Patil said on Twitter that the Madhyavarti Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti has asked for a dialogue on the border issue.

Desai is a member of the Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena faction of the Shiv Sena, whilst Patil is a senior state BJP leader. They both are Western Maharashtrians.

Since its founding in 1960, Maharashtra has been embroiled in a conflict with Karnataka over the status of the Belgaum (also known as Belagavi) district and 80 other Marathi-speaking villages that are under the administration of the southern state.
