Mara Kodama, a widow and Borges's primary advocate, passes away at age 86

She was a translator and an editor and the heir to one of the best writers of the 20th century, an Argentine poet and writer. 

Kodama, a civil spouse of Borges and the daughter of an Argentinean mother and a Japanese father, 

Until recently, Kodama served as president of the 1988-founded Jorge Luis Borges International Foundation. 

Kodama worked as a foreign author translator for Latin American publishers and taught Argentine literature 

Mara Kodama passed away from breast cancer in Vicente Lopez, Argentina, at the age of 86.
